Methodology
TransitionArc offers users a number of ways to adapt the default grading settings within the tool.
8.Changing the Scoring Source
The tool uses a default dataset where more than one is available, as described in Section 4. Users can change this hierarchy, for one or all metrics.

8.Applying Rules
Users can choose to set their scoring criteria according to the severity of each set of rules described in Section 5. With no rules (None), there is a risk that only one indicator (e.g. governance) will decide the score for an organisation. With moderate rules, an aligned emissions assessment is necessary to achieve a score. Finally, the strict assignment of rules means that the company will not score higher than their lowest scoring metric.

8.Changing the Weighting
Weights can be changed at two levels (metric and sub metric) using a ‘slider’ feature. The weights of the other metrics and sub metrics are automatically adjusted to accommodate the changes being made.

8.Changes to default settings
A “flag” is displayed when the default rules for weights and other guardrails are changed (see previous section). This provides maximum user flexibility whilst reducing the risk of a misleading score being generated for a company within the user interface. Users should be aware that changing weightings and metric source can change the company grade due to variations in methodology, assessment timeliness and underlying sources between providers. It is recommended that users use the underlying information and their own preferences to interpret a company’s overall performance.
