Methodology

Arc and its partners have developed an exploratory data platform to serve decision-leading information on corporate transition to financial institutions. This has been achieved by:

• Creating a grading system for corporate transition, based on transition metrics found in existing voluntary and regulatory frameworks.
• Integrating the best available sources of transition analysis from world-leading institutions, while respecting their expert judgement on what it takes for a company to be science-aligned.
• Working towards full transparency back to the source dataset (and where possible the initial company disclosures used to generate the analysis) and key methodological steps.
• Identifying the actions corporates need to take, to close the gap to a science-based transition pathway.
• Allowing user customization with a selection of alternative datasets and weightings applied across the metrics, while also placing guardrails to ensure the integrity of the grading system.
• Ensuring the platform is public while also serving data directly to financial institutions through an API from the Arc Data Warehouse. A sample of TransitionArc data is now live and discoverable on Snowflake Marketplace. Any institution using Snowflake can trial our full data model within the context of one sector and a few data providers.
